Where is Canyons Resort Utah?

Canyons Village at Park City in Utah is located 4.6 miles (7.7km) from downtown Park City and only 29 miles east of downtown Salt Lake City.

The Salt Lake City International Airport is 33 miles from Canyons Village and it only takes about 45 minutes to get there by car or private shuttle.

Canyons Shuttles

There are many private ground transport operators that provide door-to-door shuttles from the Salt Lake City airport to your Canyons lodging.

Driving to Canyons

Many people staying at Canyons Resort won’t need to have a car, because transport to downtown Park City and Deer Valley is available (see below). However if you want to go out every night in Park City, do day trips to the Cottonwood ski resorts (Alta, Snowbird, Solitude, Brighton), or other activities (e.g. snowcat skiing with Park City Powdercats), having a car will afford much more flexibility.

You can rent a car at Salt Lake City Airport (or in downtown Salt Lake City) and driving from the airport is very easy via I-80 through Parley’s Canyon and onto Highway 224. There are no steep windy passes to get to Canyons or around the Park City area, so you’d probably be OK most of the time without a 4WD.

Overnight car parking is available at each of the Canyons Village accommodations. The parking lot for day trippers is located at the base of the mountain, and transport is provided via an open air gondola up to the village.

Getting Around the Park City Area

A free bus transit system operates around the Park City area connecting the Park City ski resort bases, Main Street, residential neighbourhoods, and Kimball Junction. The buses depart from near the day parking lot, so a Cabriolet (open air gondola) ride is required to get between the parking lot and the village.

The Lime/Canyons bus route operates between downtown Park City, the main Park City Mountain Resort base, and Canyons Village. These buses go every half hour and operate from about 6:30am to 5:30pm. The Pink/Kimball Junction West bus route also covers Park City, PCMR, and Canyons, as well as Kimball Junction. This bus operates until about 11pm-midnight (although the Cabriolet only goes until 7pm).

Most of the Canyons hotels offer complimentary shuttle services to and from Main Street Park City, and there is also a very well established taxi service available in the Park City area.

Getting Around Canyons

The main part of the Canyons village is only small, and most of the commercial Canyons accommodations are contained in this area, and the slopes, ski rentals, ski school, restaurants, and shops are within very easy walking distance.

The Waldorf Astoria is located a little down the hill from the main village. It’s ski-in and the connection up to the main village is via the Frostwood Gondola. This only operates until 5:30pm and after that the main form of connection is via the hotel shuttle bus.

There are private vacation rentals below the main village and many ski-in ski-out salubrious homes up in “The Colony”. Particularly for the latter, a car or taxi will be required to get to Park City and other areas.

Other Ski Resorts Nearby

For those without a car, there are various tour and shuttle operators that provide transportation to these resorts.
