Ski Nepal

Skiing in Nepal offers an adventure amongst the biggest mountains in the world. A Nepal ski trip combines the serenity of Nepal with the thrill of skiing or riding in such majestic mountains.

Officially known as the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, it is a landlocked country that is mainly situated in the Himalayas, which need no introduction.

Whilst on a ski trip you can also take in other activities such as monastery tours, visits to villages, and hot pool excursions. The real immersion is of the cultural type and the ancient doctrines of this beautiful land.

Annapurna Sanctuary

The Annapurna region of the Himalayan Mountains is the most popular to go skiing in Nepal. Annapurna is often translated to “goddess of the harvests” or the “mother who feeds” and whilst skiing there you’ll definitely get the mother of all experiences whilst out harvesting powder!

The Annapurna Sanctuary is over 1,817,533 acres so there is a huge area to play with. There is the full gamut of aspects and slopes to choose from, and the terrain varies significantly from mellow slopes up to uber expert slopes (conditions permitting).

The weather patterns can be unusual and often the mornings provide the best weather.

There is Nepal heli skiing in this area and there are also ski touring/splitboarding expeditions.

Nepal Ski Resorts

Nepal has the highest mountains in the world so one might think that ski resorts in Nepal were prolific, but obviously other factors are at play, and the snowy mountains are not easily accessible from the city of Kathmandu. Downhill skiing is not a popular sport, and in many instances the locals don’t even know what it is.

It’s only very recently that a ski resort has opened up, and the Kalinchok Ski Resort near Kuri is very tiny.
