Phantom Heli Skiing

Phantom Heli Skiing offers private & semi-private heli skiing & heli boarding in the Coast Mountains of British Columbia, Canada.

Based out of Squamish (with options to fly-out from Vancouver), Phantom Heli Skiing is one of the most accessible heli skiing operations in Canada.

The heli ski terrain on offer includes steeps, pillow lines, open alpine bowls & glaciated fields, as well as tree skiing in old growth forests.

Phantom Heli-Skiing works in partnership with crown land tenure holder Black Tusk Helicopter Inc.

If you are on a ski holiday at Whistler, a Phantom Heli Skiing package could be the ideal adjunct to your trip.

Phantom Heli Skiing Packages

Phantom Heli Skiing offers private (up to 4 guests plus a guide) or semi-private (2 groups of up to 4 guests & 2 guides), so you will need to get a group of mates together unless you have a stash of cash to afford the helicopter all to yourself.

The good news is that Phantom Heli Skiing offers day-heli skiing, which is perfect for those visiting Whistler or Vancouver and just wanting to get out for a day. For those who know that one day of powder pleasure won't be enough, Phantom Heli Skiing offers multi-day heli skiing lodging packages staying at a secluded boutique lodge at the Brew Creek Centre.

Or if you are just wanting an easy bump into the backcountry and you are happy to earn-your turns, Phantom Heli Skiing offers heli-assisted backcountry touring packages.

Where is Phantom Heliskiing Located?

Phantom Heli Skiing operates in the Coastal Mountains of British Columbia, with the main base at The Black Tusk in Squamish approximately 64km (1 hour drive) north of Vancouver or 59km (45 mins drive) from Whistler.

Heliskiing Terrain

With Phantom Heli Skiing you can explore 247,000 acres of alpine and treeline terrain within British Columbia’s famous Sea to Sky corridor. Ski or ride throughout the dramatic Tantalus Range, the southern reaches of Sky Pilot Mountain to the remote Ashlu Range. The Heliski runs range from 300 – 1000 metres in length and are generally in mid-range alpine terrain, including old-growth tree skiing and classic Coast Mountain steeps.

Massive glaciers, alpine bowls, and treeline pillow lines are all on the menu. The heli ski area provides landscapes and terrain that any avid skier or boarder wants, from steep bowls to treeline cruisers. Whether you’re a first time heli-skier or experienced veteran, the terrain leaves you inspired.

Vital Statistics

  • 247,000 acres of skiable terrain - that’s more than 33 times the size of Whistler Blackcomb
  • Over 100 named runs and growing
  • Phantom regularly skis new runs with our clients
  • Many runs with over 1,000 metres vertical skiing
  • Average snowfall of over 12 metres or 40 feet

Massive Coastal Glaciers

The twisting Coastal fjords end with spectacular icefields and surrounding glaciers. These provide a dramatic setting for the skiing and riding. Descend the sweeping glaciers while overlooking the Pacific Ocean on some of the most dramatic runs.

Old Growth Tree Skiing

Prominent ancient cedars and groves of towering fir trees are abundant throughout the terrain. Enjoy cruising through the naturally spaced undulating forests.

Steep and Steep

It starts with an annual snowfall of over 12 metres resulting in a deep snowpack that creates the pillows, spines, drops and steeps that the Coast Mountains are famous for.

From Sea to Sky

Phantom Heli Skiing is really directly in the middle of the famous ‘Sea to Sky’ area of British Columbia. Some days you’ll literally do it all. Start on an alpine peak, ski an open bowl and descend into old growth tree skiing. After hitting some snow pillows, get picked up to have lunch overlooking the Pacific Ocean on a nearby fjord. Awesome!

This must be done shortly after making your reservation (some require insurance to be purchased within 15-20 days of initial trip deposit).

If you are injured, you will be charged the ambulance expenses associated with your evacuation as well as any expenses related to your medical care. Medical and evacuation insurance will help to cover these costs.
