The Canyons Village Lodging
The Canyons Village sits at the base of the Park City Ski Resort on the side of the resort that was formerly known as
The Canyons. The Park City Canyons Village lodging consists of deluxe to luxury hotels and condos, all of which are ski-in ski-out or only a short walk to one of the gondolas or chair lifts. Canyons village lodging is rather popular with families in part due to the proximity to the slopes, ski school and child care.
The lower parts of the Canyons Village feature private condos and homes, whilst the upper parts of the resort within the Canyons skiing area have luxurious private mansions.
The Canyons village provides all the required amenities for skiers and snowboarders including equipment rental shops, a handful of retail shops, a large ski school, and child care. There are several restaurants, bars and eateries that range from casual to upmarket. The nightlife can be very vibrant during specific events; otherwise the nightlife is typically more on the subdued side. Potential cons of Canyons Village accommodations are that it’s a little more difficult to get to Main Street (4.5 miles away) and to Deer Valley Ski Resort (6.2 miles away), although there are buses and shuttles (and taxis) to connect these zones if you don’t have a car.
Kimball Junction Hotels Park City
The rates for the Kimball Junction hotels and condos are rather refreshing in comparison to downtown Park City lodging prices, particularly for the chain hotels. Another advantage is proximity to the Tanger Factory Outlet stores. Kimball Junction is 3.4 from the Canyons village of the Park City ski resort, 6 miles from the main PCMR base, and 6.5 miles from downtown Park City. Kimball Junction is connected to other Park City areas via buses, but it may be easier to have a car.
Park City Accommodation
Location is important when it comes to Park City accommodation, and as to be expected, Park City lodging that’s located close to the slopes and/or Main Street will come at a premium. Most of the Park City accommodation falls into the deluxe, luxury and opulent price brackets, but there are also some options for moderate budgets. Anticipate that prices for most Park City lodging will escalate substantially at Xmas time and during the Sundance Film Festival.
Park City lodging can be loosely grouped into the following areas: near the main base of the Park City Mountain Resort; the Main St district; “the suburbs” of Park City such as Prospector Square or further afield near Kimball Junction; and
Canyons lodging in the Canyons Village at the base of the Park City Mountain Resort. Or there are vacation rentals at the base of the Silver Star lift. Alternatively if you’ll mostly be skiing at the
Deer Valley Ski Resort, you could stay in
Deer Valley lodging.
Park City Main Street Hotels & Condos
The old town of Park City and Main Street is where the main action happens in relation to bars, dining and shopping. You’ll typically pay a premium for Park City Main Street hotels and condos.
Access to the
Park City Ski Resort is via the Town Lift and bridge, which is to the northern end of Main Street. This area is ski-in via intermediate runs or the Town Lift can be downloaded. Ski and snowboard instructors can meet you at this base if you book a private lesson.
Park City Mountain Resort Accommodations
At the main Park City Mountain Resort base there are various hotels and condos, several of which are ski-in ski-out. The Park City Mountain Resort accommodations provide the huge pro of easy access to the slopes, and this is a particularly convenient place to stay for access to group ski or snowboard lessons, as this is one of the main bases for ski school. There are also several premium properties located within a 5 minute walk to the Park City Mountain Resort base area.
It’s about 0.8 miles from the PCMR base to Main Street Park City. There are free buses between the two areas, and some of the hotels provide their own shuttle services.
You’ll also find
Park City Mountain Resort accommodations here.
Prospector Square
Park City hotels in or near Prospector Square typically provide better value for money. The area is bordered by Sidewinder Drive and Prospector Ave and the State Highway 248. It’s about 1.3 miles from the Park City Mountain base and 1.5 miles from Main Street, and the area is connected via free local buses as well as hotel run shuttles. There are a few restaurants in the Prospector Square area within easy walking distance.
