The Park City Mountain Resort has very well developed services and amenities. The main base of Park City Ski Resort has lots of facilities and services. Another “base” has effectively been established by the addition of the town lift which connects the ski resort to Main Street in downtown Park City.

There are also additional facilities and services at Canyons Village at Park City (ie the Canyons side of the Park City Mountain).

Park City Ski Rentals & Snowboard Hire

In the Park City area there are at least 33 rental shops for skis and snowboards, and most do repairs, so you won’t have to venture far from your Park City lodging to get your equipment. There are also Park City ski rental companies that will come to your lodging if you don’t want to go anywhere.

Park City Mountain Rentals is the official resort rental shop and the rates are reasonable.

Jans and Coles have multiple Park City ski rental locations including shops at the base area, and huge shops in Park Avenue.

White Pine Touring rents telemark and cross-country gear.

Facilities for Children

Park City Mountain Resort offers a combination of ski school and childcare for young children (ages 3.5 to 5), but not childcare only. There are various Park City child care providers in Kimball Junction and Prospector Square, so if you don’t have a car, your best bet is to use one of the many Park City babysitting agencies and get them to come to your hotel or condo for the ultimate in convenience. It can be rather pricey if you only have one child that needs babysitting, but the rates are reasonably economical if you have two or more kids.

There are various baby equipment rental facilities in Park City.

There are lots of kids’ activities in Park City, but other than the Alpine Coaster (mini rollercoaster) these aren’t based at the resort so they require some logistics to get there.

Park City Ski School

The ski school has very reputable programs for children. They offer a Signature 3 program for young children (ages 3.5 to 5) where the ratio of children to instructor is less than 3. All day care includes two 75-minute ski lessons in the safe corralled area with magic carpets, and other play activities such as arts and crafts.

The Kids Signature 5 Program is for ages 6-14, with class sizes of 5 or less. They also offer specific freestyle lessons. The quality of the lessons is exceptional, but the costs are up there as some of the most expensive in Utah.

Adult group lessons are reasonably well priced. Three hours workshops are the most common format, and two hour workshops for experts are also held.

Group lessons meet at the main Park City Mountain Resort base area, so you might want to consider this when choosing the location of your Park City lodging.

Eating On Mountain

The Mid-Mountain Lodge near the Pioneer chair has tray-service but this isn’t your average cafeteria! There is some standard fare and a grill, but it also has an impressive carvery and fantastic smashed potato – yum. There is plenty of seating inside but also a large outdoor deck with great views.

For waiter service, there is the Summit Smoke House & Grill, or head to the quiet Viking Yurt for a simple lunch or hot toddy and enjoy the warmth of the wood-fired stove. You can also grab a photo with the ridiculous Viking helmet on! The chef creates hearty, homemade sandwiches and the pastry chef literally skis in bearing trays of goodies.

For snacks there are various “skiosks” or coffee stops across the mountain.

The base area of the Park City Mountain Resort has various dining options in the Legacy Lodge. If you’re in need of a caffeine kick-start, Jupiter Java coffee café is popular and there’s a bar and grill, and pizzeria.

Downtown Park City has countless daytime restaurants and is easily accessed from the ski area via the bridge. The challenge will be finding a dining venue where you can feel comfortable in your ski or snowboard boots without the gapes from women in their fur outfits!
