Food & Nightlife

The Canyons Village is generally not party central unless there are specific concert events. There are several Canyons dining and drinking opportunities, and these tend to more oriented to the refined and sedate end of the spectrum. Après-ski time can sometimes fire up, but the nightlife later on tends to be pretty quiet as many families hole up in their condos for the night.

Canyons Restaurants

There are various Canyons Resort restaurants, some of them providing upscale and fine dining.

The Edge Steakhouse looks plain on the outside, but inside is very elegant décor with a matching menu of steak and seafood. We dined here one night and the food was absolutely exquisite.

Fine dining is also available at Powder in the Waldorf Astoria in the lower village. The menu can be described as contemporary American, and they also have an impressive wine list.

The Farm opposite the Red Pine gondola has a crack at using local produce, whilst the Bistro at Canyons is a kosher restaurant (closed on Saturdays for obvious reasons).

Red Tail Grill at the Grand Summit Hotel is a restaurant and bar, serving up casual southwestern fare and other mains. We enjoyed the ambience of this establishment, as well as the fantastic margaritas!

Otherwise you can head into downtown Park City via the free bus system, a taxi, or your hotel shuttle. Park City restaurants are many and varied, and there are also a few Deer Valley dining options, especially in the fine dining category.

Canyons Dining – Daytime

In addition to the on-mountain restaurants, you can grab some daytime fare at the First Tracks Café, just off the lobby in the Grand Summit Hotel. In addition to coffee (we tried this once and it was very substandard), they sell pastries and simple on-the-go food.

Much better coffee can be found at Murdoch’s Café (in the Sundial building), along with more food options such as breakfast burritos, sandwiches and soups.

Or for breakfast, the Cabin at the Grand Summit Hotel offers a full-on breakfast buffet.

Bars & Nightlife

The Red Tail Grill is a popular spot for après-ski drinks, particularly on a nice day when you can watch all the stragglers coming down off the slopes.

Drafts (in the Westgate building) is a great pub and sports bar that has a family friendly section as well as an adults-only area near the bar, and a heated outdoor patio. This is a great spot for an inexpensive feed of pizza, hamburgers, and other pub food.

For a very casual beer or two, the Umbrella bar sits in the middle of the village, and you can either stand in the umbrella/yurt type structure or sit outside beside one of the fires.

The Canyons restaurants also have refined bars, or more lively bars can be found in Park City.
