The Schweitzer Ski Resort facilities and amenities are mostly housed within a handful of buildings in the small Schweitzer village.

Schweitzer Ski Rentals

There are two options for on-mountain ski and snowboard rentals at Schweitzer Ski Resort. The Ski and Ride Center houses the large resort owned ski rental shop. They have lots of reasonably priced skis and snowboard packages, as well as a large range of demo/high performance skis and snowboards. Other rental equipment includes cross-country ski packages, telemark skiing packages, snowshoes, and snow bikes. A small equipment tuning and repair workshop is located next to the rental section.

The Alpine Shop is located in the Schweitzer Village and offers a large range of high performance ski and snowboard equipment, including plenty of powder skis. They also have ski and snowboard tuning and repairs.

Sandpoint Ski Rentals

The Alpine Shop also has a location in downtown Sandpoint (213 Church Street). The Sandpoint ski shop has lots of ski and snowboard rentals, but there is more of an emphasis on recreational equipment compared to their Schweitzer ski rental store.

Schweitzer Ski School

The kids’ snowsports school has a variety of programs. Kinderkamp is for ages 4 to 6, which is an all day experience that combines ski lessons with indoor play and childcare. A full day program is very affordable and includes 2 lessons, or it’s possibly to just buy a morning or afternoon lesson.

Mountain Riders is a full day or half day program for ages 7 to 12 for skiing or snowboarding. This kids ski school is very reasonably priced relative to some of the high profile USA ski resorts.

For adults, Schweitzer has inexpensive beginners packages that incorporate lessons, and an intermediate package that includes a lesson. Otherwise the only option is private lessons which come in full day, half day, 2 hour, or one hour formats.

Other speciality clinics include terrain park, telemark, Nordic lessons, or adaptive learning.

Child Facilities

Child day care is provided at Schweitzer Mountain Resort with the facility located on the lower level of the day lodge. The day care is for children ages four months up to six years, and it’s inexpensive relative to some other US ski resorts. Child care is provided for a half day (for any 4 hours) or for a full day with snacks and lunch included.

Eating On Mountain

The day lodge is called the Lakeview Lodge, with the assumption that the weather will be fine enough to be able to see the lake. The day lodge is conveniently located adjacent to the beginners’ runs so it’s easy for parents to watch the kiddies from inside, or for beginners to easily come into the day lodge for a rest. The day lodge is very large and it houses a cafeteria (with typical cafeteria style meals), a little coffee shop, a pizza joint, picnic and locker areas, and a big pub, so there are multiple options for breakfast, lunch or a snack. In addition to indoor seating, there’s also a little outdoor area to perch.

Outback Inn is a great spot for food and drinks. It’s located in the Outback Bowl at the base of the Stella chair lift. It’s a cool little lodge with old skis and other paraphernalia for decoration, and outside there’s a deck and old chairlift chairs that are placed around a fire.

Sky House is a magnificent building at the top of the Great Escape and Colburn chair lifts, that offers primo views. It houses a restaurant and bar as well as a cafeteria.

Otherwise for daytime fare it’s very easy to slide into the village and eat at one of the cafes.
