Breckenridge Restaurants

There are 50 plus Breckenridge restaurants to choose from, so knock yourself out! Most of the Breckenridge restaurants are located in downtown Breck, either on the main street or a couple of streets from it. There are also a few restaurants up at the lodging complexes on Peaks 7, 8 and 9, which are nice if you’re staying up there and don’t want to rug up and take the shuttle down to town.

There are lots of cheap and cheerful Breckenridge dining options. One example is the Motherloaded Tavern (103 South Main Street); an incredibly popular eatery and bar. Sit in the saloon or in the dining room; it has a very eclectic feel with cheetah print cushions and strange paraphernalia on the walls. They have comfort food as well as rabbit food (the healthy type!), and all the meals are at very jolly prices. The drinks are also very cheap, especially the wines. Not surprisingly, this place is pretty popular and there may be a bit of a wait for a table.

Downstairs at Eric’s (111 South Main St) is also great for an inexpensive simple feed. This is a sports bar and in addition to cheap beer they sell pizza, wings and burgers at rock bottom prices.

The Breckenridge Brewery and Pub (600 South Main St) is another good spot for American food at reasonable prices.

Breckenridge also caters very well to upscale clientele with lots of fine dining restaurants. As one example, the Hearthstone Restaurant (130 South Ridge St) has beautiful steaks, game and seafood.

Breckenridge Nightlife & Bars

Breckenridge isn’t a patch on some of the European ski resorts when it comes to après and nightlife, but it’s still very impressive. The Powderhounds have awarded Breckenridge with a Best Skiing in USA award for the nightlife! Lots of folks congregate for après ski drinks at the Copper Top Bar at the Beaver Run Resort on Peak 9. You can sit out on the patio on nice days or hang inside where they often have live music or a DJ. This is a very vibrant bar, although I can never quite get used to drinking beer out of a plastic cup (what is this American tradition about?!).

If you want a more sophisticated drink (ie out of glass for a start) you can head to the Base Nine Bar, also at the Beaver Run Resort.

Another lively après hangout is The Maggie at the base of Peak 9. Happy hour specials tend to rock here!

After dark, Breckenridge has a large range of bars so you can easily do a good pub crawl. Finish off at the Underworld. Please drink lots of alcohol if it’s going to be a powder day tomorrow, don’t get out of bed until after midday, and hopefully I can get a few fresh turns in?!
