Shopping

9 Day British Columbia Ski Tour
Shopping at Kicking Horse or Golden won't entertain you for hours, but there are a few shops with ski and snowboard gear and clothing, and good souvenirs.

Golden Ski Shops

Selkirk Sports opposite the gondola is a small ski shop that sells a range of skis that you can demo with different binding set-ups. This Kicking Horse ski shop also sells backcountry equipment, lots of accessories, and good backcountry-type apparel from Peak Performance, Mammut and Arcteryx.

Kicking Horse Outfitters (near the kids’ area) has a good range of ski and snowboard accessories, mid-layers and a small range of outerwear. The Kicking Horse shop also sells a many souvenirs, or there’s a small outlet in the day lodge that sells an abundance of Kicking Horse souvenirs. KHMR branding is emblazoned over lots of items including t-shirts, fleeces, jackets, ski accessories, caps, stickers, beanies, mugs, pins, key rings, drinking bottles, hip flasks, shot glasses, soft toys, Spankies (cleaning cloth trail maps), cooking sauces and soft toys. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a large array of ski resort souvenirs. Crazy!

In Golden, the 180 Mountain Sports shop sells backcountry gear and limited ski and snowboard outerwear.

Grocery Shopping

The general store in the Mountaineer Lodge at the base of Kicking Horse Resort sells basic groceries including fresh produce, toiletries, magazines, and sundries. The shop also has a good range of wine and other alcohol.

For substantial shopping needs, the prices are much better at the supermarkets down in Golden. One example is Sobey’s supermarket on the corner of the road to the resort.
