Food & Nightlife

Cheap Flights
Nordic Valley has only limited dining facilities in the day Lodge. The nearest restaurants are in and around Eden.

Ogden Valley Restaurants

Across the road from the Red Moose Lodge in Eden is the best pizza joint for many miles around – Alpine Pizza. Jim the owner will regale you with many a tale and perhaps let you in on some of the secret powder stashes in the area. Highly recommended pizzas are the Garden of Eden and the Alpine Special. There is no alcohol served at this restaurant, so try one of the microbrewed ginger or root beers.

The other top local restaurant is the Wolf Creek Dining Room (Phone 8107453737#3, 3923 N Wolf Creek Drive) a short distance from Eden on the Powder Mountain road. It has a pleasant quiet atmosphere, with excellent service, and the food is top notch. Serving fresh contemporary American food, the Wolf Creek Dining room does a fine selection of fish, chicken, steaks, pasta and, of course, burgers. This is America after all! There is an extensive wine list and a selection of local microbrews. Check out the specials menu and give it a try. For dessert, try the Cobbler. It’s big enough to share between three!! The Wolf Creek Dining Room also does breakfast, lunch and après drinks with a classic selection of $5 appetisers.

Further down the road toward Huntsville is the delicious Harley & Bucks (Ph 8017452060, 510 E 22200 N). This is a great restaurant in a historic building with a lively atmosphere, good beer selection and a fresh take on classic American cuisine. You’ll love dishes like their Raspberry Chicken and New York Striploin (porterhouse). Save room for dessert because the massive chocolate brownie with chocolate sauce, whipped cream and caramel ice cream is to die for. If your USA ski trip has left you lacking in some vegetable intake, Harley & Bucks serves up lovely portions of fresh veggies as sides and with mains.

Other restaurants include Eats of Eden and Carlos & Harleys (Mexican).

Bars & Nightlife

There are no bars at Nordic Valley and the only nightlife is the night skiing until 9pm!! But hey, you came to Utah to ski didn’t you?

The nearest proper bar is in Huntsville – the Shooting Star Saloon (Address - 237 S, 7400 E). This is Utah’s oldest continuously operating bar and is definitely worth a visit after a day at Snowbasin (it’s on the way home via the eastern side of Pineview Reservoir).

Otherwise Ogden is the place to be although it’s a bit of a journey. Try Roosters Brewing Company and Restaurant. It is located on the historic 25th St in downtown Ogden. The food is basic pub grub, and the microbrew beers are pretty good. The ‘Polygamy Pale Ale’ and the ‘Junction City Chocolate Stout’ are the stand outs. Who mentioned polygamy?

Most of the local restaurants serve alcohol as described above. A good selection of microbrews and domestic beers are available from the supermarket in Eden so you can have your own après session in the lounge or hot tub at your accommodation. (Warning – avoid buying the ‘Captain Bastards Oatmeal Stout’. When you drink it you’ll shout ‘you bastards’. It’s rubbish!)
