I have gone to the copper mountain 7 times since I was a beginner till now when I am very good at skiing. I took lessons for one day then went off and have been good ever since and they have amazing power and decent lifts and I feel that there is no where better to go. See our video here

My family of 4 (mom, dad, and 2 young adult children) skied at Copper Dec 19-20, 2021. The best part of the experience for us was skiing/riding together as a family down the groomed runs under American Eagle. We are all fairly capable skiers, having skied or boarded about 3 days per year for the last 20 years, but we are not super-skilled locals. For me, Copper's best attribute was the long, moderately steep cruisers. After exploring a bit to learn the layout, we settled into skiing laps on American Eagle and Timberline. Runs there had good snow coverage, steep but not scary pitch, a variety of groomed and bumped runs, and light to moderate crowds. The snow quality and coverage was ok but not great. There was enough coverage for all of the major lifts and runs to be open, but there were some thin and icy spots. The sunny runs provided the best grip. For my last few hours of skiing, I made laps under Super Bee. It was fantastic. It was quite steep in places but the runs were wide and uncrowded. There are no beginner runs on that side of the resort, so I could ski fast and make a lot of laps. For Olympic downhill-style runs, this is probably the best mountain I've ever skied.

The base area was lively and fun but at times became chaotic. There was a Mountain Dew snowboard half-pipe competition going on with big names like Shaun White there, so I guess the chaos was expected. Between 10:30am and 2:00pm there were huge lift lines for American Eagle and American Flyer. If I return, I'll try to avoid the Center Village and spend more time at East Village. The first day, we ate at a food court in Center Village which was mediocre, expensive and noisy. The second day we ate at Eagle BBQ which was really good, a lot quieter and a maybe a bit cheaper (or maybe I thought it was cheaper because I was happier). Parking was easier than expected (and free!) in the Alpine lot. The shuttle bus was busy. I will attempt to walk to East Village from the lot if I return.

For lodging, we stayed in an AirBnB in Frisco. The town is really cute. The Lost Cajun was our favorite restaurant. We rode the Summit Stage (local bus system) instead of driving on the 2nd day. It was crowded, but I preferred that to driving since the shuttle bus from the Alpine lot was almost as long as taking the Summit Stage all the way from Frisco. I do not recommend taking the Summit Stage to Breckenridge. It was packed to the gills. We checked out the base at Breckenridge but did not ski. It was a ZOO. It was the only time I've been to a ski resort and was glad I was not skiing. I much prefer Copper. See our video here

Copper Mountain is another mega resort in Summit County but gets a lot less attention.
They are quickly becoming the dominant terrain park mountain in the area, but also have some decent pow days.
The base area village has lots of convenient lodging, but getting gas/groceries requires a drive to Frisco.
2/3's of the mountain is too flat to take seriously, so expert skiers are limited. See our video here

Of Vail, A-Basin, Breck, and Loveland, Copper is probably the best overall package deal. Price is among the cheapest...it's large enough to keep you busy all day but not so large you feel lost...and the food/drink options are pretty outstanding (get the waffles) in the village area.

Snow is consistently good to great and the crowds are tolerable. Really fun runs to boot! Fairly challenging (to hideous - if you go down some of those black mogul runs) and definitely tougher than anything we have in the East. Blacks are like 2X or 3X blacks out here.. See our video here

We found some coupons that allowed us to ski Copper for around $30/day for the adult tickets.

It snowed a lot when we were there, which I'm sure added to my experience with Copper.

It didn't have tons of runs, we ran out of new runs pretty quick, and the lifts too.

Basically if you're looking to go somewhere pretty good for a smaller place, but just so you can ski some nice runs for cheap - this is the place.

I didn't find the nightlife to be great, but Breckenridge is not far away.

Pros: Cost... It is very inexpensive to ski here, especially if you get some good deals/coupons. It is really good for families. It is not crowded.

Cons: If you're a serious skier you will run out of thrill pretty quickly. The nightlife is not great. The accommodations could be better, but then again what do you expect - it's not meant to be Breckenridge and that's why you can afford it!

Copper Mountain is a good destination for many in Colorado and beyond. Plenty of long and open blues and greens. More difficult terrain up top (Spaulding Bowl) if you want it. Copper Mountain is just around the corner from Breck, Keystone, and A Basin, yet before Vail Pass. Nicely situated in the sunlight. Fun place to ski.

Pros: Snowboard park training available until early summer with camps. Nice parks and pipes. Early supporter of snowboarding. Nice race courses. Bumps left to grow freely. The bowls are fantastic—steep, great snow when it comes. If you like blues and greens, nearly the entire frontside is for you. Copper gets some amazing snow and it isn't part of the Epic Pass so you won't get a lot of mountain jumpers. Lots of dedicated local Copper fans.

Cons: The ski patrol eyeballs SKY chutes on the backside of Breckenridge. Expensive to stay in the village but Frisco is just down the street. Condos in the village are from the seventies when it used to be a Club Med destination. See our video here

As an advanced snowboarder, I'm not a huge fan of Copper. Learning how to snowboard, it's a great place. Not all that crowded, some great groomers and parks for all skill levels. The more advanced park is usually pretty good too, some good jumps and rails. It's generally less crowded than some of the bigger mountains, like Breck and Vail.

For expert and advanced skiers and snowboarders, though, I'd recommend other places. There are a handful of good bump runs and trees good for powder days, but in general the amount of expert skiing is pretty limited. The Upper Enchanted Forest offers some good powder riding, so going up to the bowls is what I'd recommend for the more advanced skiers.

It seems like they also just get less snow than some of the other resorts nearby. So for the true powder hounds, I'd recommend Vail or Breck instead.

The town is nice, but pretty quiet at night - not a lot of night life. A good place if you're bringing the family for a weekend ski trip or vacation, as it's slightly more affordable. See our video here

Cooper Mountain is one of Summit county’s smaller resorts, but it still has a big mountain. No real town but a little village, it's still a cool place to visit.

Copper has some runs for everybody, and what I think might be the friendliest green runs around. Really love the timberline area - it’s awesome since on nice days, they break out grills and cook hamburgers and have tall beers, music, and super kicked back lounge chairs.

Copper can be busy; with a pass that includes Winter Park and Steamboat, Denver locals come up weekends and powder days. But it also can save you money, being one of the cheaper lift tickets. Always check prices and hunt for the best deals - I found a buy one get one through Southwest airlines one year.

Lodging is plentiful and does have some nightlife, but nothing crazy… if you want to burn a candle head down to Breckenridge which is about 25 minutes away.

It has a bus system but I never used it, just parked and walked.

For kids, ski school is good and tubing is a must for all ages.

Copper is definitely in a convenient location with Breck, Keystone, and A-Basin to the east and Vail and Beaver Creek less than a hour to the west. Go sample Summit county, you won’t be disappointed. See our video here

Another great Summit County resort! Copper Mountain is one of my family's favorite places to ski. We have skied Copper many times in the past several years. The great thing about Summit County, Colorado, is you can ski several different resorts in the same area. I typically look for one of the season pass deals that cover several resorts. Although I don't live in Colorado, it is still usually a better deal that buying individual day tickets and if you get a chance for a late season trip, you're covered!

Pros: There are many different levels of accommodations and as we go as a group, typically we rent a large house. There are a number of ski-in/out locations at Copper as well. The ski school is top notch and the terrain park is very good. There is also plenty of intermediate/advanced terrain. The tubing park is awesome!

Cons: Copper is only a ski resort and there is not much for Apres. If you are looking for the party you will need to head to Breck. The runs at the bottom of the mountain can be a little steep for beginners. See our video here
