Remote Lines: The Loppa Experience
Guided Ski Touring & Splitboarding on the Island of Loppa in Far North of Norway
Tucked deep in Norway’s Loppa region in Finnmark county, Sør-Tverrfjord is one of Europe’s most remote ski touring destinations, where soaring peaks drop into open fjords and skiers are few and far between. This isn’t just a ski trip; it’s an Arctic expedition on your own terms.

Itinerary
From the moment you exit the airport at Alta, everything is taken care of, and the adventure begins. Your driver will greet you and transport you 2hr to the ferry at Øksfjord, where you then travel over the water to Loppa & your lodge at Sør-Tverrfjord. The 2-hour road journey along the coast sets the scene for the coming experience! The tour then spends six days exploring the extraordinary terrain on Loppa. By night relax in the comforts of the lodge, and perhaps a sauna at the end of long ski day, or for up to 2-nights enjoy the exhilaration of staying outdoors at an 'Advanced Base Camp'. For detailed, day-by-day trip information, see the Itinerary tab.
Skiing & Snowboarding
The Loppa Experience is an immersive and hands-on tour, created to help you connect with nature and push your boundaries. Feel free to move at your own pace but prepare for an active outdoor experience.
You’ll skin up glacial peaks and ride down rugged, open slopes in places most never reach. Some summits are only accessible by boat, adding to the sense of true Arctic exploration as you move from fjord to fjord. This trip is best suited for agile, experienced boarders who are looking for a challenge and feel at home in the wild.
On an average day you will ascend and descend around 1,000 vertical meters (3,280 feet), spending four to six hours on the mountain. The tour's two expert guides will tailor each route to match group experience and conditions. On a 'challenge' day, if the snow, weather and group align, you will be taken on take on steeper, longer routes, spending six to eight hours in the wild. It’s not tied to a fixed day but always on the radar!
Despite its location above the Arctic Circle, the climatic conditions in the region are not as extreme as one might expect. Daytime temps typically range from -4°C to 7°C (25°F to 44°F), with nights dropping to -11°C to 5°C (12°F to 41°F). Expect a mix of snowfall, clear skies and steady winds.
April brings longer days, stable snowpack and excellent spring skiing conditions.
