Fernie Shopping

World Nomads Travel Insurance
Fernie Alpine Resort only has a few shops, some of them hidden within lodges. The main Fernie shopping opportunities are situated along 2nd Avenue in the town of Fernie.

Fernie Ski Shops, Snowboard Stores

The Sports Alpine Boutique is located at the Fernie ski resort base in the “plaza”. The small to mid-sized shop has a modest selection of ski and snowboard clothing and a small amount of hardwear. The shop also sells Fernie souvenirs, post-cards, resort branded clothing, and sundries such as sunscreen.

Second Avenue in town also has various ski and snowboard shops if you are in need of some new gear.

Straight Line ski shop (2nd Ave) is mainly a bike shop, but it also sells boots and skis, with fat skis galore.

Ski Base (432 2nd Av Fernie) sells Salomon and Rossignol skis and a few snowboards. The outerwear is not particularly upmarket but reasonably functional.

I was a bit bored stiff with Board Stiff who sold a little snowboard gear, but the main emphasis was on street clothing.

The Guides Hut is a small shop with hardwear and backcountry gear such as ski touring equipment and avalanche safety gear.

Souvenir Shopping

The best Fernie souvenir shopping can be found at Giv‘er Shirt Works (672 2nd Avenue) that has a plethora of Fernie souvenir clothing available. A fave item was the “groomed run” female undies. Clearly you’re not supposed to grow any fur in Fernie!

A few souvenirs can also be found in the Lizard Creek Emporium at Fernie Alpine Resort.

General Shopping Fernie

General shopping in town includes a ladies boutique, a scrap-booking shop, gift shops and a book store. And for a yummy indulgence, see if you can resist the temptation of a purchase at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate shop.

Grocery Shopping

If you need supplies at Fernie Alpine Resort, your only option is the Mountain Pantry Grocery and Liquor Store. The grocery store is a small to medium sized shop, and sells a little fresh produce as well as liquor. For a greater range of products and better prices, buy your supplies at Save On Foods, a big supermarket and pharmacy in town (792 - 2nd Avenue).
