All Very Easy

We had an incredibly comfortable stay at Hotel Alyeska and would happily recommend it to others for a ski vacation at Alyeska.

Needless to say, the convenient ski-in ski-out location was fantastic and made it easy enough to break up the skiing day into a couple of parts, and even go night skiing.

We made the most of the incredibly comfortable bed, considering that the lifts didn’t open until 10:30am. It felt rather decadent. Our room didn’t have the highly sought after “mountain view” up to the Alyeska slopes but the view of other surrounding mountains was still very nice. The strong wifi connection was also a plus.

We visited during a holiday period, and the ski resort coped with the “crowds” whilst some elements of the hotel didn’t cope so well e.g. the pool/hot tub (which was completely over-run) and the dining experiences. Initially there were only 2 evening restaurants open and they were both very small. We went on a waiting list for the Aurora Bar and Grill and after 45 minutes got a table. The food was very nice but incredibly over-priced for pub fare. And the lack of ambience with the kids “playing” the piano downstairs didn’t really make for a great dining experience. They didn’t take bookings at the Japanese restaurant either and we had to wait for an hour. It was worth the wait, considering the exceptional food and cocktails and levels of service.

Accommodation value ranges significantly for the hotel rooms because the rates fluctuate a lot depending on the season and whether it’s a weekend, weekday or holiday. The lack of reasonably priced dining will add significantly to the cost of your stay.
