Despite the challenges that Mother Nature throws at Volcan Villarrica, the Pucon Ski Resort would have sooooo much potential if only it was managed differently. Commonly some of the lifts at Ski Pucon are closed, so Pucon is really only good for beginners, those that are willing to earn their turns in the upper reaches of the "ski resort", or adventurous types that can go alpine touring to the top of the volcano.

The Pucon area is a beautiful part of Chile but I would suggest the area is more of a summer destination.

The ski area is very small, on my visit the top chair was not operating due to wind but even with that slightly more interesting looking terrain it would be hard for anyone above an intermediate ski level to hold more than a days interest in Pucon.
