Wanaka Shopping

The Wanaka shops are clustered within a few blocks, with many shops in streets off Ardmore and Helwick streets. Many of the shops in Wanaka operate on tourist hours and have generous opening times.

The Wanaka shops reflect the multi-faceted culture of the town, with a mix of grungy streetwear stores and high class fashion ski shops, as well as general fashion boutiques and art galleries. Other Wanaka shopping includes craft and gift shops, pharmacies and other stores for general requirements. Souvenir hunters won’t be dissatisfied with the quality selection of NZ gifts available from shops in Wanaka, as well as the visitor information centre.

Wanaka Ski Shops and Snowboard Gear

Wanaka seems to be the NZ mecca for quality ski and snowboard stores, and outdoor equipment and clothing shops.

Mt Outdoors is a fantastic Wanaka ski shop, with a main target on backcountry skiing, with the brands and gear sold reflecting an emphasis on functionality. The staff at Mt Outdoors are able to provide expert advice on backcountry gear and other specialist adventure equipment.

Racers Edge is a well known Wanaka ski shop with retail sections that sell high quality ski clothing brands, including a reasonable range of jackets and pants, and plenty of hardware.

Outside Sports (opposite New World) is a large shop selling skis, snowboards, ski and snowboard boots, après boots, outerwear, ski and snowboard accessories, and lots of Icebreaker apparel.

Grocery Shopping

For groceries head to the New World supermarket (20 Dunmore St) which is open from 8am to 8pm. Alternatively get your supplies from the 4 Square Supermarket in Ardmore Street, or New World Three Parks is a massive supermarket on the outskirts of town.
