Fox Peak Accommodation

Accommodation is available at Fox Lodge on the weekends, which is located a few kilometres down the access road from the Fox Peak ski field (it’s not ski-in ski-out). The accommodation is very basic, inexpensive and bunk-style. The lodge has a communal kitchen with cooking facilities and utensils, a heated dining area, and hot showers! You need to BYO sleeping bag, pillowcase, food and drinks.

Fox Peak also has some private huts located on the ski field.

Fairlie Accommodation

Fairlie is the closest town to Fox Peak, a 50 minute drive away. Rather than being a ski town, Fairlie is more of a sedate little farming town, so don’t have high expectations for après activities, shopping or partying. Accommodation options include inexpensive hotels, budget motels, cottages, and bed and breakfasts, some of which are on farms. See our Fairlie accommodation page for more information.

Lake Tekapo Accommodation

The town of Tekapo, which sits alongside the beautiful Lake Tekapo, is more geared up towards tourists. Lake Tekapo is 25 minutes drive from Fairlie (so about 75 minutes drive to Fox Peak), and a good central hub for skiing at Roundhill, Mt Dobson, Mt Cook and Ohau.

Lake Tekapo has various restaurants and bars, and a few activities for down days or after skiing. Tekapo has hotels, motels, apartments, bed and breakfasts, and backpackers. See our Lake Tekapo hotels page for more information.

Like Fairlie, Lake Tekapo accommodation provides good value for money, although some of the accommodation in Tekapo is of a higher standard than that in Fairlie.
