On-Mountain Lodging

There is some very basic and rustic on-mountain accommodation at Craigieburn ski area. The lodges have private and shared bunk rooms, and a very friendly environment. You can book these lodges via the Craigieburn website.

Castlehill

Castlehill is a collection of houses on Highway 73 where you may be able to find a holiday house for rent. There are no restaurants or shops in this village.

Arthur's Pass

An option 36km to the North-West of Craigieburn is Arthur's Pass. The natural beauty of this place is spectacular (and there are a couple of restaurants/cafes in the village) however be aware that the pass can close (generally no more than a few hours) in the event of heavy snow-falls. You must carry chains during winter if you are crossing Arthur's Pass and a 4wd is preferable (which is preferable for getting to Craigieburn ski area anyway). Click here to see Arthur's Pass accommodation.

Springfield

Slightly further afield is the rural town of Springfield that was put on the map by a Simpson’s doughnut (or donut as Homer would spell it). Thankfully this town doesn't have too much in common with the Springfield town featured in the Simpsons cartoon. A nice accommodation option is the Springfield Lodge & Motel or see other Springfield accommodation options.

Methven (1:30hr drive)

Some people who visit Craigieburn may base themselves in Methven (which is the base town for Mt Hutt) where there is a good variety of restaurants and bars. From Methven you can ski Mt Hutt plus some of the other club fields in the area.
