Where is Happo One?

Happo One Ski Resort is located in the Hakuba Valley and is the most central of the Hakuba ski resorts. Hakuba 47 sits to the south of Happo One and Iwatake lies to the north. The town of Hakuba is about 2.5km to the south west of Happo One.

There are a couple of villages that sit at the base of Happo One. At the south end adjacent to the Nakiyama and Shirakaba bases is the village of Happo. Further north near the Kokusai base is Lower Wadano and then north again is Upper Wadano.

Getting to Happo One

Buses to Happo One

There are lots of buses that travel around Hakuba Valley and the main bus hub of Hakuba is the Happo bus terminal.

Nearby Happo One Ski Resort also gets lots of buses from parts of Hakuba. Many of the Happo One buses drop off at the Nakiyama base, and there are some buses that also travel to the other three base areas of Happo One. Your accommodation will be able to provide you with a bus timetable.

There are free buses to Happo One from:
  • Happo bus terminal
  • Wadano hotels from such as the Tokyu Hotel, Mominoki and La Neige Hotel
  • Misorano and Echoland
  • Downtown Hakuba including the train station
  • Iwatake Gondola
  • Tsugaike – only a few buses per day
There are also Hakuba Valley shuttle buses (free for those with Epic Pass or Hakuba Valley lift pass) to Happo One from:
  • Goryu
  • Hakuba 47
  • Misorano & Echoland 
  • Hakuba train station
  • Lower Wadano – Tokyu Hotel
  • Iwatake
  • Sierra Resort
  • Tsugaike Gondola
To get a bus to or from Happo One to/from other areas in Hakuba such as Norikura and Cortina, you’ll need to get a bus to the Happo bus terminal and change buses there.

Driving to Happo One

The phone number for GPS navigation is 0261 723280. It’s an easy drive and there are no steep or windy pitches to get there.

For day trippers to Happo One, the base areas offer different terrain so keep this in mind when parking if you have beginners in your group. Nakiyama base offers lots of free parking. Gondola (Shirakaba) base has very limited parking that attracts a fee. Kokusai and Sakka (best for beginners) offer a small amount of free parking. Overflow parking is near the Hakuba ski jump.

Getting Around Happo

Some of the hotels in Wadano and Happo provide a shuttle service to the slopes during the day or to restaurants in the evening. Otherwise there are various buses that travel around the Happo Village, Wadano Village, and the base areas of the Happo One ski resort during the day.

In the evenings there is an on-demand free night taxi (it has replaced the Genki Go night bus) from 5-10pm that operates during peak season. It does specific stops at Happo, Wadano, downtown Hakuba, Echoland, Misorano, Goryu and Iwatake. Reservation via an app is required to use the shared-ride taxi service. Outside of those hours, you’ll need to try your luck with a taxi.
