Lodging

Niseko AccommodationNiseko accommodation options are many and varied and include pensions, lodges, apartments and hotels.

There are a couple of factors regarding the accommodation options that set Niseko Japan apart from many other Japan ski resorts. Firstly there are lodgings to suit any budget, ranging from hostels for backpackers up to luxurious hotels such as The Vale, Ki Niseko or Chalet Ivy. Secondly, there are lots of Niseko apartments and other self-catering properties, which is somewhat of a rarity in Japan because this is more of a western concept. Conversely there are negligible ryokans (Japanese hotels), and whilst there are some pensions offering simple Japanese style accommodation, sleeping on the floor in Niseko is not that common.

Booking

You can use our accommodation search facility to narrow your search by cost per person, accommodation type, and availability.

If you can't find any suitable accommodation using the above link, here's another option for Niseko accommodation listings.

NB If you are looking to book for the Xmas to New Year period or Chinese New Year, please note that many properties sell out very early.

Which Village to Stay In?

The first decision to make regarding Niseko accommodation is which village to stay in. Decision making factors may include which ski area you want to spend most time at, and the importance of a variety of restaurants and a vibrant nightlife. If you're looking for Niseko family friendly accommodation, the proximity of the accommodation to the slopes, child care and kids' ski school, may also be important.

Niseko Hirafu Accommodation Hirafu is the most popular village to stay in. The ski area at Hirafu has something for everyone and is centrally located to enable easy access to the other ski areas and great night skiing. The Hirafu Village is the main heartbeat of Niseko with lots of restaurants, a very active nightlife and lots of shops.

Hirafu is further divided into various sub-villages. The Hirafu Upper Village is closest to the ski area, whilst Hirafu Lower Village is the area below the main highway (343). The new Hirafu East village is not within easy walking distance of the central action, and Hirafu South is also best accessed via shuttle service. View our Google Map to get a feel for the various accommodation locations.

Hirafu Niseko Ski-in / Ski-out Accommodation
Hirafu Village has limited ski-in / ski-out accommodation and it generally comes at a premium price. There are a few larger hotels, apartments and a chalet with ski to access from the Family run (e.g. AYA Niseko, Chalet Murasaki). Ki Niseko is ski-in ski-out to the Hirafu Gondola area.

Located right at the base of the Family Run (a beginner run), the location doesn’t get any better at Niseko. AYA Niseko is completely ski-in ski-out, and the deluxe apartment configurations include studios, 1.5, 2, 3 and 4 bedrooms.

In the same area opposite the Ace Family chair lift and the beginner run, Chalet Murasaki consists of an incredibly large 6 bedroom chalet (accommodating up to 14 guests) and a 2 bedroom apartment. These can be booked separately or booked together to form an 8 bedroom house for up to 18 guests.

Just tucked in behind the properties alongside the Ace Family Run is Absolute Niseko ($$), providing simple accommodation in a range of rooms with shared bathroom.

Almost ski-in ski-out to the Ace Family Run is the Niseko Park Hotel ($$) which has western and Japanese rooms (which is somewhat unique in Niseko) where you sleep on the tatami floor. There is also a small onsen onsite.

Next door is the Niseko Prince Hotel Hirafu-tei, which is pretty much ski-in ski-out or for beginners, just a couple of minutes walk to the Family Run. The hotel provides a very Japanese experience (which is rare in Niseko) with Japanese rooms (sleeping on the floor) and western/Japanese combo rooms, and some rooms have a private onsen. There is also a lovely public onsen on-site for guests, including an open air bath.

At the top of the village is the deluxe Hotel Niseko Alpen which has western/Japanese combo rooms, western rooms, and upscale renovated suites. The hotel features an onsen, large swimming pool, and child care on-site.

Upper Hirafu Village (5-10 minutes walk to lifts)
Whilst there is limited ski in / ski out accommodation in Niseko, there is a more substantial selection of accommodations within a 5 minute walk from the slopes. The most popular area is the upper Hirafu zone which has easy access to the slopes and a plethora of restaurants & bars.

Generally the lifts are only 3 to 10 minutes shuttle from most lodging. Here are a few options...

There are several restaurants and bars in the Hilton Niseko and other properties around the area. If you want the vibrant nightlife of Hirafu, it’s about 10-15 minutes away via the Niseko United bus (until 11:30pm), the Hilton Niseko Village shuttle bus (which operates until the wee hours), or a taxi. If a very vibrant nightlife is high on your priority list, this is probably not the area for you. Most people who stay in this village enjoy the tranquility and also the quick access to the back bowls.

Between the Niseko Village and Hirafu is the Kabayama Village. Located here is the stylish Always Niseko Hotel ($$), offering good value accommodation.

Annupuri Accommodation Annupuri is away from the crowds and is popular with die-hard powder hounds who want to get fresh tracks in the Annupuri bowls. When it dumps, lift access to Annupuri ski area can be cut off from the rest of Niseko United meaning you and a few people get to enjoy the freshies all to yourselves. Whilst there are a few nearby restaurants & bars, Annupuri is not big on nightlife. The village here is lovely with various cabins and chalets and a couple of hotels. Most of the accommodations in Annupuri have their own restaurants and bars to cater for their guests.

One property worth checking out is the Freedom Inn which is run by westerners and has a mix of western rooms and Japanese style tatami rooms, and is located only a short walk to the Hanazono lifts.
