Itinerary

GFR Adventure Packages can be for a duration of 1 week, 10 days, or 2 weeks. This one-week adventure is more than just a tour; it’s a journey into the heart of Georgia’s majestic Caucasus Mountains. Led by expert GMGA-certified guides, you’ll explore awe-inspiring peaks and powder-filled slopes. Each day’s activity/route is determined by weather conditions to ensure optimal safety and the best experience.

All packages start with a pick-up from the airport at Kutaisi. Every day, transfers from your hotel to Tetnuldi Ski Resort (22 km / 40-50 min) and Hatsvali Ski Resort (2 km / 10-15 min), plus shuttle service to ski touring routes and pick-ups from heli-skiing and cat-skiing areas are included in the tariff.

Whilst the duration and activities are fully customisable by the group, a sample itinerary for a week-long Svaneti Adventure can include the following:
• 2-days of resort freeriding: conquer the exhilarating couloirs of Tetnuldi ski resort and carve through the forests of Hatsvali ski resort.
• 3-days of epic ski Touring/Splitboarding: explore untracked powder fields and hidden alpine gems led by expert GMGA guides.
• 1-day Optional Adventure: take your adventure further with an optional heli-skiing, cat-skiing, or remote ski tour for the ultimate alpine thrill.

Accommodation & Meals

On a week-long tour, enjoy 7-nights at a charming family run hotel in the heart of Mestia, offering cozy rooms with stunning views of historic towers and snow-capped mountains. Double and triple rooms available, with optional single rooms for an additional tariff.

Dining in Georgia is an exceptional experience. Start each day with a delicious breakfast and unwind with a mouthwatering Georgian dinner at the hotel. Lunch is not included in the tour tariff, but your expert guides will coordinate the best time for breaks on the mountain and take you to the best mountain restaurants or assist in arranging supplies for ‘picnic’ lunches if ski-touring in remote locations.

Guides

Ski/ride with expert, certified local guides from the Georgian Mountain Guide Association (GMGA) and International Federation of Mountain Guides (IFMGA), ensuring you access the best lines and the safest, most thrilling experiences on the slopes. Maximum Guide:Guest ratio is 1:7.

Ability & Fitness

Most ski & snowboard abilities can be catered for, however, to make the most of the experience, a good level of fitness and a minimum of intermediate ski/board ability in mixed off-piste snow conditions is advantageous. Previous ski-touring/splitboarding & backcountry experience is not mandatory but is helpful in achieving some of the better adventures in the region.

Gear Rental

All participants are required to have essential avalanche safety gear, including: avalanche beacon, probe, shovel, & touring backpack. For those who don’t own this equipment, GFR will assist with rental of high-quality avalanche gear, as well as touring skis and splitboards from a trusted local provider. Inquire with GFR when booking.

Getting There & Away

Kutaisi (KUT) airport is the best entry point for this tour. The package includes airport transfers. After being greeted at the airport, comfortably arrive at your hotel in Mestia with a van, minibus, or SUVs, driven by experienced drivers who will assist with luggage handling. Travel time from Kutaisi airport to Mestia is 5-6hr.

Tbilisi airport (TBS) is an alternative entry point to Georgia, with far more flight options. However, given the extra travel distance from Tbilisi, transfers to Mestia are not included in the tariff, and will be subject to an additional charge.
