Les Deux Alpes Villages & Accommodations
The Les 2 Alpes ski resort comprises one main village ranging in size & altitude & two smaller ones. All three villages have lift access to the ski resort, with many accommodation providers offering ski-in ski-out convenience. The main resort village of 2 Alpes sprawls for 2.5km along a high pass between 1,650m & 1,800m elevation. It provides the lion's share of accommodation, with a typically French predominance of apartments. Other villages include Mont de Lans (lift & piste connected), Venosc (lift connected to 2 Alpes village) plus in the valley, numerous hamlets & the main town of Le Bourg d'Oisans.

To get a sense of the breadth of the village & proximity to ski lifts & services, see the Les 2 Alpes village map here. If seeking a wide range of high-end (5-star) accommodations in the region, one is best to look at neighbouring Alpe d’Huez.
Best Alpine Village Accommodation
2 Alpes
In the centre of the 2 Alpes village, the critical Jandri Express gondola base & main bus interchange form a focal point in the otherwise seemingly disorganised village. Staying in the area to avoid a walk or bus ride to the lifts can improve a stay on the mountain. Some of the best lodging options are quite affordable given their central location & include slopeside bars like at the Hôtel L'Orée Des Pistes (part of the Belambra Clubs group). Just a few steps away from the slopes, the Hotel Le Sherpa combines location, affordability & a vibrant restaurant.
Close to the important Diable chairlift at the southern end of town, the best of the 4-star accommodation includes the stylish Hotel Chalet Mounier & Chamois Lodge. Between the two areas, right near the slopes, Hotel Le Chalet is a superb, if simple, alternative. On the Vallee Blanche side, the older style Hotel Le Provencal will see you sleep comfortably.
North of the village centre, slopeside near the Belle Etoile chairlift, is the fabulous Hotel Le Souleil'Or. A short walk away is the ski area's best hostel, the surprisingly good The People Hostel.
Alpes 1800
At the northern end of Deux Alpes at the slightly higher elevation of 1800m, a nest of ski-in ski-out chalets & apartments are set apart from the rest of the village & are often referred to as Alpes 1800. Served exclusively by the Village 1800 chairlift, the location may suit those looking for a self-contained apartment or holiday home in a quiet part of the resort.
Mont de Lans
North of the 2 Alpes village is Mont de Lans, the lowest skiable point in the resort at 1300m elevation. The village is in a more traditional French alpine setting, a world away from the crass development up at 2 Alpes. Mont De Lans has a valley return trail leading to it & a chairlift for direct access to the hill in the morning. Some lodgings are ski-in or remarkably close to it. Mont de Lans can be a good starting point for day trippers from further afield as it avoids the drive up to the main village, but lift connections can be painful, so Venosc is better!

Best Off-Mountain Accommodation
Venosc
On the opposite side of 2 Alpes, to the south, the beautiful village of Vénosc is the third best option for staying in the area. A classic French hill town, the buildings are stacked close together above the gondola base station situated on the valley floor. At around 950m, Venosc presents the simplest option for day trippers with their own car, avoiding the tortuous drive up to the pass made famous by the Tour de France bike race. However, there is no valley ski trail & a download on the gondola is required. Venosc has several fabulous cafes, bars & restaurants in its laneways alongside arts, crafts, jewellery & clothing made by local artisans. If not staying in the village, it is worth a visit on a down day. In the heart of Venosc, a short stroll from the gondola up to Les 2 Alpes, Chambres d'Hôtes Les 2 M provides the perfect bed & breakfast mountain village stay.

Hamlets near Venosc
In the hamlet of Les Gauchoirs, 4km from the gondola base at Venosc, the exceptional Ecrins Lodge provides a divine home style lodge experience with gorgeous hosts in a quirky building. Closer to Venosc by a kilometre in the hamlet of Les Ougiers is the affordable & friendly Hotel Au Bon Accueil. Having your own car is useful here.
Le Bourg d'Oisans
If all else fails & you are after well priced accommodation in a central location, the main valley town of Le Bourg d'Oisans provides several options plus a range of local services (including a massive Casino grocery market) not available in Venosc or Mont de Lans. Bourg d'Oisans is convenient for skiing Alpe d'Huez & Vaujany, as well as Les 2 Alpes. Due to the confusing & often unreliable local buses, staying here is best for those with their own transport to drive up to the ski lifts. The best of the town's hotels is the Hotel des Alpes located right in the heart of town. Several other alternatives, including some pleasant homes, are also available, particularly at short notice. Some of the other hotels in town may not match the review scores, be wary!
