Zürs Ski Lessons & Guiding
Skiing the off-piste terrain at Zuers appears a relatively straight forward exercise from the ski lifts, even to the uninitiated. On a sunny day much f the terrain is obvious. Whilst a guide will not be necessary for this kind of exploration, when the obvious zones are tracked out, discovering the secret stashes of the resort or contemplating backcountry descents, will be much more fun (& safe) with the assistance of a quality ski instructor and/or mountain guide.
Hasenfluh & Trittkopf either side of the village plus the routes & backcountry options from the back of Madloch-Joch into Zug & Lech provide the signature Zuers freeride terrain. Some of the best lines are difficult to locate during a short-term visit. Backcountry ski touring from Zuers, can include easy skinning & cruisy descents in wide alpine bowls or interesting boot-packs into super steep couloirs.
Beyond Zurs, the broader Ski Arlberg's marked & unmarked ski routes range from easy groomed piste trails & playful zones such as into St Christoph, to more complex propositions off the Valluga & Schindler Spitze at St Anton or the Mohnenfluh & Rüfikopf from Lech. If in any doubt, these places are best explored with an experienced guide. A guide or instructor will perhaps improve your backcountry & off-piste skiing skills as well.
A wide diversity of ski instructors, ski schools & mountain guides ply their trade in the Zürs ski resort & broader Ski Arlberg, including adjacent areas of St Anton, Lech & Warth Schroecken. Joining a mixed guided group is a whole lot cheaper than hiring a private guide, but with the major caveat being one never knows the ski ability & skill level of the other group members until it may be too late!
