Where to Stay in Sölden
The town of Sölden is a sprawling mass lining the busy main road heading up the Oetz valley toward Obergurgl. Aside from on the fringes, it has lost most of its traditional ambiance but is certainly functional. If looking for a traditional Austrian ski village then Solden may not be for you. There are some exceptionally well-located hotels right next to the most important lift for powder hounds - the Gaislachkogl gondola. Position does come with a price though. Expect to pay above the average for any accommodation in town. Near the Gaislochkogl gondola base, try the 3-star Hotel Bäckelar Wirt or the 4-star Hotel Valentin.
The most affordable lodgings close to Solden (particularly for solos & doubles) are in the small village of Kaisers, 3km north of central Solden, at the exceptional Prantl Roswitha Guesthouse. There are several other great lodgings nearby. The local free ski buses all transit through Kaisers, with the regular route number 60 bus ending there, and providing superb, uncrowded transport to the ski lifts.
Lovers of 5-star luxury will enjoy the modern Bergland Hotel located centrally in town, next to the lift up to Ausserwald.
The upper areas of Hochsölden & the small Innerwald, Unterwald & Ausserwald at the top of the funicular provide options to move above the town. Hochsolden in particular has numerous high-end luxury hotels.
To get away from it all, but still be in amongst the ski action, the Hotel Silbertal & Gaislachalm are along the premium après ski route up around 2,000m altitude.

Längenfeld
Down the valley at Laengenfeld is the totally awesome Aqua Dome Hotel - a classic modern Austrian, splash & stay location. Several other excellent hotels & guesthouses line the main through Längenfeld. Be wary of staying too close to the busy, narrow road as noise from the substantial volume of traffic heading to Soelden can be distracting to say the least.

Oetz
The town of Oetz is a Powderhounds favourite based on price, access to ski resorts, lack of crowds & great places to eat. Whilst its quite low altitude of 820m can mean it is bereft of snow during the fringes of winter, the town has good value, traditional accommodations plus usually has availability when Sölden does not (and its usually half the price!). The town has all services & affordable, quality restaurants, plus transport links via free local buses to all the ski resorts in the area. Oetz can makes a great base to ski the entire region, particularly if one has a rental car. Travel times up the road to Solden (or Gurgl) are more than tolerable, and winter driving in the valley is easy with only one short, winding & icy section of road.
In Oetz one of the best places to stay includes the incredible Gasthof zum Stern, in a building dating from the year 1573 (& with bits that are even older than that!). The best hotel in town is the 4-star Posthotel Kassl, but its location on the very busy main road means that if a light sleeper you should ask for a room facing the back! Just down the road is another hotel worth considering, Hotel 3 Mohren. The village is loaded with holiday apartments, many in private houses. For the best selection of self-contained apartments in town, try MYALPS Historical (located centrally in town) or the very modern All-Suite Resort Ötztal apartments (located next to the Hochoetz gondola base).
