Best Places To Stay in Lech Ski Resort

There are many accommodation options perfect for visiting the Lech ski resort. The hardest decision is probably whether to stay in the town of Lech, above town in Oberlech or in one of the nearby villages. Your decision may depend upon whether your priorities are for an exciting nightlife, peace and quiet, family-friendliness, non-skiing activities or the convenience of a ski-in ski-out hotel. The ski-in ski-out lodgings in Oberlech are hard to beat for access to the slopes & amazing views, but they do often come with a price premium.

Lech Hotel, Apartments & Pensions

Lech am Arlberg is a town with lots to offer with regards to shopping, restaurants and bars. Lech is popular with families whilst also being exclusive, cosmopolitan and charming. Princess Diana often stayed in Lech which sums up the culture of the town somewhat.

There are over 290 accommodation establishments varying from 5-star Lech hotels such as the iconic Hotel Gasthof Post to 1-star hotels and pensions (noting that the standard of the 1-star will still be quite good in Lech!). Many Lech hotels are ski-in ski-out, which adds to the convenience, particularly for families with small children. Other Lech accommodation options include private lodgings, chalets and a youth hostel. Try the following hotels, apartments & pensions. Other Lech Accommodation Options

The other option is to stay in one of the nearby ski resort villages, particularly if you want a more peaceful and sedate snow holiday.

Zurs was purpose built so it possibly doesn’t have the same prettiness or charm of Lech. Exclusive like Lech, Zurs is small and intimate with only about 20 accommodation establishments. Whilst Lech is traditionally where you’d take your family, Zurs is typically more romantic and where you’d take your partner.

The Zurs ski lifts originate right in the centre of the village so the skiing access is convenient, with all Zurs hotels being a maximum of a few minutes walk to a lift. Hotels vary from 3 to 5 stars, with the most luxurious being Thurnhers Alpenhof, Sporthotel Lorünser & the Zürserhof hotels.

Zug is a tiny quaint village that is peaceful and perfect for families or others who don’t need nightlife. None of the accommodation is quite ski-in ski-out, the exception being for expert skiers when there is plenty of snow.

Stubenbach is an even smaller village about 1½km away from Lech. It’s a sleepy village that is fairly secluded, with a reliance on buses and taxis to get to any action.

Warth is only 7km north of Lech and whilst the road between Lech and Warth is closed in winter, the two villages are interlinked via a series of lifts. Warth is one of the snowiest places in Austria and has a range of lodging options, some ski in. From several seasons now, a modern 8-seat gondola connects the centre of Warth to the rest of the ski area, increasing the attraction of a number of its hotels and pensions.

St Anton is another option when skiing at Lech. A stay in one of the St Anton hotels (or neighbouring village such as Stuben or St Christoph) is a great ski experience. St Anton has a more lively centre & action after dark than Lech. Take the Ski Arlberg lifts for long day trips toward Lech, or you can also still take a bus there as well.
