Where to Stay at Hintertux Glacier Ski Resort

Hintertux Glacier ski resort has some surprisingly diverse accommodation options. At first glance one might think that lodging is limited to the few hotels near the Hintertux lift base. Whilst these are certainly convenient if skiing Hintertux Glacier for multiple days, other options down the valley at Tux, Finkenberg & Mayrhofen offer more of an authentic Austrian village experience, plus easy access to the rest of the Zillertal ski slopes.

Best Hintertux Hotels & Apartments

The three hotel options at the base of the Hintertux Glacier lifts all have ski-in convenience direct from the excellent valley descent trail #1, the 'Schwarze Pfanne'. They offer the ultimate accommodation near the ski resort with no need for bus transport once there. All are reasonably priced and have a full range of facilities. For après, relax up on the mountain before skiing down to the excellent Hohenhaus Tenne at the base area. If wanting to spend the day skiing down the valley toward Mayrhofen, simply jump on the free ski bus to Tux.

Tux Hotels, Apartments & Chalets

A few km down the valley from Hintertux is the village of Tux. Spread along the valley in two major centres (called Tux-Lanersbach & Tux-Vorderlanersbach), the village is serviced by two gondolas (Eggalmbahn & Rastkogelbahn) plus numerous piste trails ending directly in the town. The village has all services (supermarkets, post office etc.) and provides easy access to not only Mayrhofen via ski lift, but also Hintertux Glacier via the regular free local ski bus shuttle.

Best Finkenberg Hotels

A short distance up the valley from Mayrhofen at Finkenberg, Stock Resort Hotel provides 5-star resort style accommodation, only 200m from the new Finkenberger Almbahn gondola, which links directly to all of the upper Mayrhofen ski lifts. Exceptional accommodation at the entrance to the Tux valley above Mayrhofen. Other hotels, closer to the gondola, include Hotel Neuwirt.

Further down the valley, the large village of Mayrhofen is in our opinion the best in the Zillertal. A fun & convenient base for anyone wanting to ski or snowboard at Hintertux, it has a huge range of options available and is the final stop on the Zillertalbahn railway line.
