Great Northern Powder Guides Cat Skiing Montana Great Northern Powder Guides provide epic cat skiing and snowboarding adventures. This Montana cat skiing outfit near Whitefish is pretty fun. It’s located in a beautiful wilderness area, and it’s a great complementary activity for those on a Whitefish ski vacation.

There are lots of terms and phrases that can get a powder hound drooling: freshies; face shots; visit the powder room; hang out in the white room; eat some pow. These conjure up delicious thoughts of skiing or snowboarding fresh powder. Unfortunately the fresh tracks that powder hounds crave can be hard to find at ski resorts, but get out cat skiing with Great Northern Powder Guides and you’ll probably experience freshies galore, which will undoubtedly satisfy any craving!

And don’t worry; you won’t need to sleep with the GNPG mascot, Sway the bobcat!

GNPG have a backcountry yurt that makes a great base for your cat skiing adventure and provides “glamping style” luxury.

Otherwise it's pretty easy to organise your own Whitefish lodging.

It’s set to expand further in the future, and with 7.8 metres of snowfall per season there are plenty of opportunities to revel in the powder. The terrain is below the treeline and includes mellow cleared areas, nicely spaced trees, super steeps, rocks to pop off, little pillows, and some cliffs. There’s wondrous variety and features; it’s like one big backcountry terrain park!

Depending on the ability and speed of the group, a standard snowcat skiing day typically includes 8 to 10 runs and 8,000 to 10,000 vertical feet of skiing bliss. The steep and deep package typically covers 12,000 vertical feet per day.

The cat skiing can cater to very strong intermediate riders but is particularly well suited to advanced and expert skiers and snowboarders.
