The drive up to this place is pretty amazing. I do recommend a 4 wheel drive though. You go up through a tropical rainforest then come up to the top and there is a ski area.

Nobody here on weekdays when we were there.

Not much in the way of services so bring what you need.

Unfortunately we didn’t have the best experience at Antillanca.

Firstly the slopes were very icy until later when it started pouring with rain. Sure it can rain anywhere, but the word on the street is that this happens a fair bit at Antillanca.

The hotel would be better described as a hostel considering the bunk beds, and the rooms were rather shabby drabby and in good need of a renovation. This makes it ski club style which we quite enjoy, but they charge hotel prices not hostel or ski club rates. For couples wanting to share a bed, the only options are the quadruple rooms (that have a double bed and bunks), making it even more expensive.

The service was dreadful. As just one example we were checked into the “hotel” by a man who spoke fluent English. He failed to mention on check-in that the hotel had NO heating and NO hot water, and that the problem was likely to continue for the duration of our stay. It was a very stinky and freezing few days, and the communication and problem solving associated with the ongoing issue was poor.

The restaurant cafe was rather charming and the laid back vive was also rather appealing.

Obviously Antillanca also has some other strong points. It’s a good spot to get off the typical ski tourist beaten path, enjoy the quiet slopes on weekdays, and get up amongst it in the classic Andes volcano territory.
