We booked a Beginner family package with Snowcountry Instructors for our family of 4 as part of our Japan trip in January 2019. We just wanted a short side-trip to the snow and this fit the bill nicely. It was an easy 80 minute trip on the Shinkansen from Tokyo and a highlight of our trip. Communication with the company and our instructor before and during our visit was excellent and it was great to have accommodation, ski lessons and lift passes etc all taken care of.
Our ski instructor Magda was very patient with us as beginner skiers, and was able to let us all progress at our own pace but also ensure we each got better over our two days skiing and had a good time. Accommodation at the Takahan Ryokan gave us a more authentic experience and was great.

This has been one great adventure for me and my family. I commend the impeccable service of Patrick the one who patiently arrange everything for us including our accommodation and transportation even in the busiest time of the year (last Dec.31, 2018). We are also very thankful for the Piotr our instructor in the Ski resort, who also patiently tried his best to teach all of us how to ski. Thank you Powderhounds for the great service you provide. The instructor Quentin is excellent and experience. He could tell that I am not using my toe when facing uphill. The walk uphill was hard work and magic carpet should be provided to trainees. Overall, our skill had improved.

Recently we booked the two day Progression Course with the Snowcountry instructors. For us this was an excellent experience. We improved our skiing, saw a variety of different ski resorts within the Yuzawa area and experienced the welcoming Japanese culture, with our instructor, Patrick.

While we are only intermediate skiers, Patrick was patient, friendly and 'wise' with his advice and helped us move forward as skiers. In particular, having Patrick's expertise ensured we visited the best ski runs suitable for the conditions of each day. This would have been much more difficult without Patrick's guidance, given we experienced a full range of conditions including sun, rain, wind and a big dump of powder 😀

Probably the best part of all for us was the extra attention that Patrick provided, picking us up, taking us to the best restaurants and helping us through the language barrier.

It is not just what he did but how he went about doing it. Patrick is a patient and personable instructor/guide who made the whole experience comfortable, fun and the opportunity to advance our skiing.

Would we recommend this experience to our friends and family? Absolutely.

Its been a really good experience from the very early start of communications with P.L. i had numerous questions regarding rates,hotels, rentals, transport and he guided me patiently till I was able to choose a comvination that was easy for us.

We met with both PL and my 2 teeners coach Derrick on tbe day of lessons as scheduled. Derrick took charge from then on, they were in capable hands. The kids enjoyed the lessons and are looking forward to more snowboard trips to Yuzawa.

This package is great value. Having a guide and instructor the whole day really helped in improving our techniques . Patrick was patient and relaxed. He showed us runs which suited our ability and was very accommodating in what we wanted to do. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a 2 day ski experience. With its quick access from Tokyo, Yuzawa has loads to offer for those looking to incorporate a short side ski trip into their holiday plans.
