Methven Heliski Tour
The Methven Heli Tour is the ultimate tour for riders who want to pack in as much snowboarding in NZ within a short space of time. With regular and cheap flights to Christchurch, Methven sets itself up as a perfect staging area for some of New Zealand’s best resort and backcountry terrain.
This fully-hosted package includes 3 full days of guided heli skiing, a day of skiing/riding at Mt Hutt, lodging in a private room with ensuite, daily cooked breakfasts & dinners at the lodge and lunches on-mountain on heli days plus transfers to/from Christchurch airport.
The aim of the tour is to get 3 full days of heli skiing in over 5 possible ski days. If weather permits you have the option of adding a 4th day of heli skiing (at and extra cost) or alternatively you will spend an extra day skiing/riding at Mt Hutt (beyond the included day).
The heli skiing days are operated by
Methven Heliski. They operate a huge terrain tenure across 3 mountain ranges with over 200 named runs. The mountains out there are big, you will see why the guides like to call it ‘
Mini Alaska’. All safety gear and briefing on how to use it is provided by internationally accredited heli guides. A typical day will consist of
5 huge leg burning runs from the helicopter, with the option to add on extra runs if your legs and lungs allow!
Mt Hutt is just a short drive from your base in
Methven and one of New Zealand's premier ski resorts with terrain to challenge all levels.
The Heli Skiing Terrain
Your heli-ski guides have an in depth knowledge of the local area and will be able to find any type of terrain to suit your ability. From sheltered powder-filled basins, bowls and wide rolling mountain flanks through to steeps and chutes. Runs vary between 2000 to 4000 vertical feet of treeless terrain.
Ability & Fitness Level
It is recommended the rider be a advanced or above and have a moderate level of fitness in order to get the most out of this tour.
Small Groups
Mint Tours offer one of the smallest client to guide ratio’s in the industry which ultimately leads to a better experience for everyone. Their small groups allow greater manoeuvrability and ease of access to the best areas a destination can offer. On the heli-ski days, the guest to guide ratio is maximum of 5 people per guide. This also makes for a more personal experience between guests and guides.
