Falls Creek Accommodation

There are lots of different options for accommodation at Falls Creek, ranging from inexpensive (by Australian ski resort standards!) backpacker style lodging at the private ski clubs, up to luxurious apartments and studio/hotel style accommodation.

Falls Creek accommodation has the major advantage that most of it is conveniently ski-in ski-out via various streets and trails around the village. The potential downside is that the village streets are closed during winter to cars, so overnight guests at most Falls Creek accommodation need snowcat transport up (and down). The oversnow transport can be rather expensive, particularly if you have a lot of luggage.

Base of Falls Creek Express/Slalom Plaza Area

Staying near the base of the Falls Creek Express chair lift provides some distinct advantages. For properties right near the road, it eliminates the need to use the slow and exorbitantly priced oversnow transport service. Child care is located in the Slalom Plaza, and the Falls Creek Express chair lift heads straight up to the ski school meeting point. Another pro is that Wombat’s Ramble (an easy green run) snakes down past this area, so it’s a good spot for groups with beginners.

QT Falls Creek is one of the best Falls Creek hotels, and it doesn’t get any better than this with respect to location, right at the base of the Falls Creek Express chair lift, fully ski-in ski-out and no need to use the oversnow transport. This luxury Falls Creek hotel/apartment complex offers self-contained 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom and 3 bedroom apartments, all with balconies with a hot tub to soak the weary bones after a day on the slopes. QT Falls Creek has a day spa, restaurant, bar, ski lockers, and a supermarket downstairs.

Alpine Woodsmoke is another luxury property with drive in drive out access and undercover parking. Woodsmoke has 3 bedroom (2 bathroom) and 4 bedroom (3 bathroom) apartments for up to 10 people, and is conveniently located only a 2 minute flat walk to the base of the Falls Creek Express lift.

General Village Accommodation

Most of the Falls Creek accommodation is located in the hilly streets of the village, which are ski-in ski-out via a few home trails that are suitable for confident beginners and up. Staying here provides a nice middle point between the Falls Express base and the Village Bowl, and provides easy access to many of the restaurants and bars.

At the top of the village, Frueauf Village has deluxe studios, and one to four bedroom apartments sleeping up to 12 people.

Base of Gully Chair Lift

Staying at the base of the Gully chair lift also eliminates the need to use the oversnow transport to get to your accommodation, as it’s very close to the road. This area has ski and snowboard rentals and a few other amenities. To get to ski school at Cloud 9 (at the top of the Falls Express chair lift), either catch the road shuttle to the base of the Falls Express lift, or catch the Gully chair lift and then the Eagle chair up (skiing down is for intermediates and above only).

The Falls Creek Country Club is a ski-in ski-out apartment complex located at the base of the Gully chair lift, providing easy drive-to access (so no oversnow transport). This Falls Creek accommodation has studios and 1-3 bedroom apartments, sleeping up to 10 people. The property has an indoor heated pool, spa, sauna, restaurant and bar.

Village Bowl

There is a hub of accommodation at Falls Creek in the Village Bowl near base of the Summit and Eagle chair lifts, and the top of the Gully chair lift. There are a few kids’ activities in this area, and access to ski school at Cloud 9 is via the Eagle chair lift.

The Falls Creek Hotel is located in the heart of the Village Bowl area, providing simple hotel style accommodation. The Falls Creek hotel has a heated swimming pool, spa, bar, restaurant, kids club, and ski and snowboard rentals on site. Packages are available with bed and breakfast, with options for dinner and ski/snowboard rental as well.
