If you are looking for a perfect Austrian ski holiday location, Mayrhofen just about ticks all the boxes. Masses of ski terrain (particularly if you head up to Hintertux), pumping party scene, amazing lifts, fab accom and great snow. What else is there? Cant wait to go back.

Party Time at Mayrhofen

24/01/2017

Modern lifts, expansive skiing, diverse off-piste for those willing to look, plus more apres ski locations than you could possibly poke a stick at.

We loved that you can take a train to Mayrhofen and then access a modern gondola directly from the centre of town. We also loved that Hintertux Glacier, Hochzillertal and the Zillertal Arena resorts are easy to get to from Mayrhofen, creating a truly diverse ski experience for all Zillertal visitors.

And of course then there are the little quirks that give a true insight into the humour & fun of the Mayrhofen ski resort. Entering a men's toilet at the top of the Penkenbahn, one is confronted by a huge glass window with skiers wandering past seemingly in full view of the urinals. Naturally the glass is one-way only, but the effect is extraordinary! (See second last photo above)

It is always party time at Mayrhofen. Come and check it out. Whilst perhaps a little more sedate, Mayrhofen is a great alternative to St Anton & Ischgl in the party stakes.

We can't wait to ski here again. See our thoughts on the Pros & Cons of the ski resort on our Mayrhofen Overview page.
