Mega sized bathroom
Hotel accommodation in Rossland is rather limited so The Josie is a fantastic addition for Red Mountain and Rossland. It has the potential of changing the face of Red Mountain to becoming a deluxe destination resort rather than just a quick spot for ski bums on a Powder Highway road trip.

The Josie Hotel has so many fantastic things going for it. The location was an obvious one, being right on the slopes and adjacent to the day lodge, and it offered great views from both our room and the restaurant. The ski concierge area was rather large and it was a really convenient spot to don the boots and utilise the storage facilities.

Our hotel room was incredibly spacious and delightfully luxe, with lovely furniture, a large entrance foyer, an incredibly comfortable bed, a huge window overlooking the valley and another looking up to Red Mountain. The bathroom was really spacious, and the oversized soaker was a highlight, in part because it was possible to watch the TV or look at the mountain views once the bathroom blinds were opened up.

The restaurant and bar has lovely décor and ambience and it offered a good range of really lovely food and an extensive drinks menu. As the hotel was very very new, it was apparent that some of the service levels were not particularly sophisticated (in both the restaurant and other parts of the hotel), and it’s likely that with a little more time the overall dining experience will match the quality of the cuisine.

You might enjoy dining at The Velvet a few nights during your stay, because there are only a couple of other evening dining options on-mountain (Rafters some nights only), unless you drive down to town.

Other facilities are to be added to the hotel’s complement soon, which will further enhance a stay. It represented really good value, although it’s not known if rates will rise as the popularity of the hotel gains more traction.

We thoroughly recommend The Josie as a fabulous hotel – can’t wait to go back!
