Itinerary

The tour starts & finishes in the village of Castelrotto in the Val Gardena. From there a massive, exciting ski journey ensues taking in all the best scenery & ski slopes of the Dolomites. Resorts visited include 3-Peaks (a.k.a. Drei Zinnen or Sesto/Sexten), Alta Badia, Arabba Marmolada, Cortina, Kronplatz, Val di Fassa & Val Gardena.

For a detailed program outlining all the locations visited, see the Itinerary tab.

Lodging & Meals

The ski safari includes all accommodation and most meals on the tour. A night at the start and finish is spent in a 4-star hotel in an alpine village. In between you will spend five nights in mountain rifugi, where breakfast & dinner is included. Lunches are taken at the best slopeside restaurants along the way but are not included in the tariff. Drinks are not included in the tariff, but you will probably get a few free grappas whether you like it or not!

For more information on meals & accommodation, see the Lodging tab.

Small Groups

This is a small group tour, with the SUPER 7 Dolomites Ski Safari restricted to a maximum of seven per group, plus your ski leader.

Ski Ability

The SUPER 7 Dolomites Ski Safari has several long ski days and is therefore only suitable for fit, strong intermediate to advanced skiers on groomed slopes. The ability to ski steadily for 6 to 8 hours in one day and descend up to 8,500m vertical in a day is required. All guests will be 'qualified' before booking to ensure that the group is of the necessary fitness & ski ability.

On-piste trails are utilised throughout the tour. Off-piste skiing is possible along the way (as long as it doesn't slow the group down!), but it at your own risk and will be without the ski leader.

Ski Equipment & Lift Passes

All mountain skis and poles are included in the tour price. You will need to bring your own ski boots or organise to rent some for an extra fee. A price reduction is given for anyone that wishes to use their own skis & poles.

A full 6-day Dolomiti Superski lift pass is included in the tour. If you have an IKON Pass that is valid for skiing 6-days in the Dolomites, you will receive a price reduction on the overall tour tariff.

Getting There & Away

To reach the start of the tour, Innsbruck (INN) is the best gateway airport. Yes fly to Austria to ski Italy! If flights to Innsbruck are too awkward, then Verona (VRN) is the next best, but its flight schedule is even less than Innsbruck. Major international airports nearby are Munich (MUC) (just 2½hr train ride from Innsbruck) or Venice (VCE). Either way transfers can be arranged, or just get to either Innsbruck or Verona and get picked up by the included airport transfer. On the last day of the ski safari, after a great night’s sleep & breakfast, you will be driven to your preferred airport or other destination as negotiated with the tour operator.

Itinerary

A key to the delight in this tour is staying up in the mountains for 5 nights, rather than descending to the valleys. As the other skiers drop back into their valleys and return to their hotels, you can pull up a chair, order a drink & allow the mountain tranquillity to wash over you. Watch the sun slide behind the mountain opposite, because, more than likely, you'll be skiing it tomorrow!

DAY 1: Arrival & Welcome

Transfer from Innsbruck (or other preferred arrival point) via Ortisei & ski equipment fitting (if required). Onward to Kastelruth (Castelrotto) village for welcome drinks at the hotel & briefing with your ski leader/host. Kastelruth is one of the ancient villages of the Sudtirol and your base hotel is one of the oldest buildings in the village. Appropriately it is an old coaching house where travelers stayed whilst horses were changed for the onward journey.

HIGHLIGHTS: ★Arrival in the amazing Dolomites at the Cavallino d'Oro ★Welcome Drinks ★Meet your Ski Leader/Host ★Explore the village & enjoy your first night in the Dolomites
ACCOMMODATION: Hotel Cavallino d'Oro, Castelrotto/Kastelruth

DAY 2: Tre Valli

On ski, by ski lift and ground transport, journey through 3 valleys from Val Gardena to Val Pusteria via the Val Badia. The skiing takes the group from near the hotel at Alpe di Siusi all the way to the famous Kronplatz ski area and its commanding position in the northernmost valley of the Dolomiti Superski area, above the city of Brunico.

HIGHLIGHTS: ★The pistes of Alpe di Siusi, Selva Gardena, Badia valley and arrival at Kronplatz ★First night in a rifugio
STATISTICS: 8,573m vert | 95.22km travelled
ACCOMMODATION: Rifugio Cai, Kronplatz

DAY 3: Begin with a Black

Kronplatz is frequently voted as one of the top ski destinations in the Alps and today you’ll discover why. 5 wonderful long black runs and a Christmas pudding-shaped mountain with slopes running off its crown in every direction - carving heaven!! Toward the end of the day the group moves to 3-Peaks ski resort, taking the ski train directly from the lift base, and then skiing down into the accommodation in Sesto/Sexten from the summit of Helm.

HIGHLIGHTS: ★The black runs - Piculin, Erta, Sylvetser & Herwegg ★Ski train to Sesto
STATISTICS: 8,612m vert | 82.7km+ travelled
ACCOMMODATION: Rif Albergo Panorama, Sesto/Sexten

DAY 4: Austrian Border Country

You can all but throw a stone over the border to Sillian in Austria, you will be that close! Sesto/Sexten is a gem of a ski area and the highlight, the Skiweg UNESCO is a remarkable run through the border wilderness and is just one of the 115 km of perfectly prepared pistes. End of day a minibus ride takes the group to the snowmobile pick-up point, for a thrilling over-snow journey up to Rif Faloria.

HIGHLIGHTS: ★SkiWeg UNESCO and lots of long, perfect slopes ★Snowmobile ride to Faloria
STATISTICS: 6,639m vert | 80.77km+ travelled
ACCOMMODATION: Rif Faloria, Cortina d'Ampezzo

DAY 5: Cortina

Fresh tracks on Faloria and a quick look at Cristallo before hitting the main event - Tofana! The Forcella, Canalone, and much more. This stunning ski area will captivate you! The day ends with a cable car ride to the very top of the Lagazuoi, where you will be spending the night.

HIGHLIGHTS: ★Women’s World Cup Run ★1956 & 2026 Olympic Ski Slopes ★Forcella Rossa ★Sunset views from Lagazuoi
STATISTICS: 7,597m vert | 70km+ travelled
ACCOMMODATION: Rifugio Lagazuoi, above Passo Falzarego

DAY 6: 101

No Dolomites Ski Safari is complete without the Hidden Valley and today is that day. To give it the official name, Armentarola 101 pretty much describes the skiing but not the scenery and setting - truly dramatic! Ski the picturesque slopes of Alta Badia to get to Arabba, where lifts and pistes take you across to Passo Fedaia on the flanks of Marmolada.

HIGHLIGHTS: ★Horse Tow out of Hidden Valley ★Ski journey from Alta Badia to Marmolada
STATISTICS: 6,175m vert | 66.65km+ travelled
ACCOMMODATION: Rifugio Fedaia, Marmolada

DAY 7: The Marmolada Morning

To find yourself at 3,265m at 9:00am with the sun casting shadows over a perfectly groomed 12km long, 1,800m vertical piste is a skier's heaven. So much so that some experienced skiers have been brought to tears on this run. How it will affect you? tears of utter joy, or a few tears of pain as your thighs scream at you. From Marmolada, the ski safari goes all the way back to Val Gardena skiing some absolute classics along the way, before indulging in an aperitif to celebrate the completion of an epic ski journey.

HIGHLIGHTS: ★Sunrise ★Marmolada ★Ski-runs Saslong & La Longia
STATISTICS: 8,168m vert | 67km+ travelled
ACCOMMODATION: Cavallino d'Oro, Castelrotto

DAY 8: Departure

Wake to the bells of the village tower, take breakfast, and leave your ski boots to recover. You’re headed home or perhaps somewhere else to ski, but will it meet expectations now after these remarkable 7 nights in the Dolomites? Try to take the time to enjoy your Cavallino d'Oro breakfast. If time allows, take a wander around this wonderful South Tyrol village. Your transfer to Innsbruck is only 90min.

HIGHLIGHT: Breakfast with memories of a fantastic ski safari with your new friends!

Accommodation & Meals

The tour price includes 2 nights B&B accommodation in a 4-star hotel, plus 5 nights’ accommodation with half-board (dinner & breakfast) in mountain rifugi. Lunches are not included and are eaten in mountain huts along the way each day, with the agreement of the group. Drinks are not included in the tour price but expect to be given a few free samples of local grappa (and you must take it!).

Hotel Cavallino d'Oro

During your SUPER 7 Dolomites Ski Safari you will spend 2 nights (one at the start & one at the end of the tour) in the 4-star Hotel Cavallino d'Oro located in the mountain village of Kastelruth/Castelrotto. Rooms will be on a double or twin share basis & breakfast is included. Dinner is available in the hotel restaurant or elsewhere in the village.

Mountain Rifugi

For the middle 5 nights of the ski safari you will experience the ultimate Dolomites lodging experience spending the consecutive nights in different alpine rifugi. Stay at Rif. Cai near the top of Kronplatz, Rif Albergo Panorama above Sesto/Sexten, Rif. Faloria above Cortina d'Ampezzo, Rif Lagazuoi perched beautifully above Passo Falzarego, and a final night on a high mountain pass at Rif Fedaia below Marmolada. Note that whilst most couples will get their own private rooms with en suite, it is impossible to guarantee this. It is most likely that you will, at some point, have to share with other members of your group, but that is part of the rifugio experience!

A night in each rifugio includes breakfast & dinner, plus each has a full bar with local aperitifs, beer, wine & grappa. The views, sunrise & sunset are also included!
