Specialissimo Dolomites Ski Safari

A Premium Ski Journey Through the Dolomites

This is a ski safari for real skiers who want the good stuff... without the chaos. The Specialissimo Dolomites Ski Safari is all about discovering the best of the Dolomiti Superski area and with more vertical, more variety and more venture than other itineraries. And of course some of the most memorable overnight stays anywhere. This is a most adventurous Dolomites Ski Safari itinerary and explores the world's most incredible ski region over six very full days, spending 4-nights in mountain rifugi (plus three in 4-star hotel) to ensure the best experience.

The Dolomites hide more than views. They hide terrain most skiers never find. “There are 2 types of Skiers: Those who have skied an Inspired ITALY Dolomites Ski Safari and the rest.” Sure, there are rifugi at every turn. Hotels. Slope-side stops. Crowds. That’s the surface. But just beyond that? There’s another layer. Steep shots tucked between valleys. Hidden traverse lines that link whole regions. Remote bowls, tree runs, and rifugi you won’t find online. That’s where we go. The guides don’t follow the map- they follow conditions, timing, and instinct. The ski leaders have skied these mountains for years. They know when the light hits a line just right; where the corduroy stays clean past 10am; and how to link 3 valleys before lunch - without rushing. This isn’t just a tour; it’s your backstage pass to one of the world’s most complex and wild ski systems. Are you ready to come along?

Itinerary

The Specialissimo Dolomite Ski Safari tour takes in more valleys, mountains and ski trails than any other tour. Over 6 ski days your group will be using the lifts, pistes, private taxis, horse-drawn sleigh & helicopter to travel through the resorts of Alta BadiaCortina, Civetta, Arabba-Marmolada, San Pellegrino, & Val Gardena. You will be shown the best snow & ski trails, stunning mountain vistas, plus enjoy local cuisine and some lesser known, quieter ski slopes.

To see a detailed day-to-day program outlining all the locations visited, see the Itinerary tab.

Lodging & Meals

The tour includes 4-nights' stay high in the mountains at highly rated rifugi, complete with breakfast & dinner. Each morning experience the best on-piste skiing that the Dolomites has to offer straight from your door. Three nights (2 at the start & one at the finish) are also included at a 4-star boutique hotel in the tiny hamlet of Bulla overlooking the Val Gardena. For meals, the tour is entirely half-board, including all breakfasts & dinners. Lunches will be at the best mountain restaurants along the day’s ski journey.

For more information on accommodation (& meals) see the Lodging tab.

Small Groups

The Specialissimo Dolomites Ski Safari is restricted to a maximum of six per group, plus your ski leader.

Ski Ability

The tour includes moderate to challenging skiing and includes many 'black' pistes so is only suitable for fit upper-intermediate & advanced skiers (sorry no snowboarders). You need to be able to ski steadily at a good speed all day and maintain a reasonable pace/speed - each itinerary differs, so please ensure that you understand the itinerary that you have selected. The ski days start around 8:30 and finish usually around 15:30. Although there are a great number of bluebird days, when conditions are tough, you still have to go skiing to get to the next Rifugio! All guests will be 'qualified' before booking to ensure that the group is of the necessary fitness & ski ability.

On-piste trails are utilised throughout the tour. Off-piste skiing is possible along the way (as long as it doesn't slow the group down!), but it at your own risk and will be without the ski leader.

Ski Equipment & Lift Passes

All mountain skis (Head Shape eV8 2026) and poles are included in the tour price. You will need to bring your own ski boots or organise to rent some for an extra fee. A price reduction is given for anyone that wishes to use their own skis & poles.

A full 6-day Dolomiti Superski lift pass is included in the tour. If you have an IKON Pass that is valid for skiing 6-days in the Dolomites, you will receive a price reduction on the overall tour tariff.

Getting There & Away

The tour starts with a pick-up from one of four locations; Innsbruck airport, Innsbruck Hbf (main train station), Verona airport, & Bolzano. To reach the start of the tour, Innsbruck (INN) is the best gateway airport. Yes, fly to Austria to ski Italy! If flights to Innsbruck are too awkward, then Verona (VRN) is the next best, but its flight schedule is even less than Innsbruck. Major international airports nearby are Munich (MUC) (just 2½hr train ride from Innsbruck) or Venice (VCE) and then train to Bolzano).

Either way, transfers can be arranged, or just get to either Innsbruck, Verona or Bolzano and get picked up by the included airport transfer. On the last day of the ski safari, after a great night’s sleep & breakfast, you will be driven to your preferred airport or other destination as negotiated with the tour operator.

Itinerary for the SPECIALISSIMO Dolomites Ski Safari

DAY 1: Arrival & Welcome

A private taxi transfer from Innsbruck, Verona or Bolzano (or other preferred arrival point) to the high mountain village of Bulla in the Val Gardena. This hidden gem clings to the valley wall high above Ortisei and just below Alpe di Siusi. Here you find the family Pitschieler running the Slow Farm Hotel of Mea Via where they make their own butter, love their animals and have a wine list that puzzles and challenges all comers. After ski collection & dinner, rest and get ready for your journey!

The lifts aren't yet turning and you will be first on the slopes heading west to the Val Gardena. The day is full of highlight slopes from the famous World Cup Saslong to CIR and La Longia. Return to Ortisei to deposit skis and we return to our base.

HIGHLIGHTS: Val Gardena | Cir, Saslong, La Longia, Seceda
ACCOMMODATION: Mea Via Slow Farm Hotel, Bulla, Val Gardena

Accommodation & Meals

The SPECIALISSIMO Dolomites Ski Safari starts with two nights in the boutique Mea Via Slow Farm Hotel, then five nights in various mountain rifugi, before finishing with a final night back to the Mea Via.

Mea Via Slow Farm Hotel

During your Ski Safari you will spend 3 nights (2 nights at the start & 1 night at the end of the tour) in the beautifully appointed Mea Via Slow Farm Hotel, located in the mountain village of Bulla above Val Gardena. Rooms will be on a double or twin share basis & an amazing locally breakfast and dinner is included. Perched above Ortisei in Val Gardena, the hamlet of Bulla (Pufels) is a quiet alpine village at 1,500 m, known for its rich geology and cultural heritage. Overlooking the village is Mount Bullaccia and its famous Witches’ Benches. A short walk away, you’ll also find three historic grain mills- Droch, Zaramin, and Rumanon - one of which has been restored, preserving a piece of Bulla’s past.

Mountain Rifugi

During the middle of the ski safari you will experience the ultimate Dolomites lodging experience spending 4 consecutive nights in different alpine rifugi. The rifugi include single nights in Chalet Cima Uomo (San Pellegrino), Albergo & Ristorante Baita Dovich (base of Marmolada), Rif lagazuoi (the best overnight location in the Dolomites near Cortina) and the incredible Rif Col Pradat.

Note that whilst most couples will get their own private rooms with en suite, it is impossible to guarantee this. It is most likely that you will, at some point, have to share with other members of your group, but that is part of the rifugio experience!

All rifugi on this tour include breakfast & dinner, plus full bars with local aperitifs, beer, wine & grappa. Stunning sunrises & sunsets are complimentary!
